Effect of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium rates on severity of Xanthomonas leaf spot of Schefflera

Resumo

As plantas de Brassaia actinophylla foram cultivadas com vários regimes de N-P-K antes da inoculação com Xanthomonas campestris pv. hederae. O aumento das taxas de N, P e K reduziu o número de lesões. O número de folhas, a altura e a qualidade dos brotos diminuíram com o aumento da taxa de nitrogênio, mas não foram afetados de forma consistente pelas taxas de fósforo ou potássio. A gravidade da mancha foliar de Xanthomonas na Brassaia actinaphylla pode ser minimizada com um aumento leve a moderado das taxas de N, P ou K, sendo que a taxa de N tem o maior impacto sobre a gravidade da doença.



Abstract

Brassaia actinophylla plants were grown with various N-P-K regimes prior to inoculation with Xanthomonas campestris pv. hederae. Increased rates of N, P, and K reduced the number of lesions. The number of leaves, height, and shoot quality decreased as the nitrogen rate increased, but were not consistently affected by phosphorus or potassium rates. Severity of Xanthomonas leaf spot on Brassaia actinaphylla can be minimized with slight to moderate increased N, P, or K rates with N rate having the greatest impact on disease severity.
